Purpose
This article will show you how to setup Aspire Crew Mobile on mobile devices as well as how to approve the new devices to gain access to Aspire.
Requirements
Aspire Crew Mobile is supported on iOS 15.8 or greater or Android V11 or greater.
When a new mobile device is assigned to a crew leader, crew member or subcontractor, there are several set up steps that need to be performed so they can use Crew Mobile in the field.
After a crew leader is set up in Aspire, set up their device to make sure when they use Crew Mobile, they have no device limitations.

Set Up for Android Devices
Download and Install Crew Mobile
To use Crew Mobile on mobile devices, it must be downloaded from the Play Store for Android products; search for Aspire Crew Mobile and download.
Enable Location
For Android devices, location is enabled from Settings. The settings for Android devices vary widely, but the example below shows how to set location service for an Android device with a Version 13 operating system.
The option to enable location will be under security or privacy settings. This allows your device to enable location services for all apps on your device that require location services.
Set up Permissions
After installing Aspire Crew Mobile, you must provide permissions for the app to access the camera, location services, and storage as depicted below.
Navigate to Crew Mobile, and open your permissions to review settings.
Camera
Open the Camera settings, and select Allow only while using the app. This makes sure that your crews can use their camera to capture images for their jobs, as needed.
Location
Since you confirmed that your device allows location sharing, you can now set it for Crew Mobile to recognize a crew member’s location when they clock in or out, or record time on a job.
Select Location, and then choose Allow all the time. This helps with accurate clock in locations, travel time, and overall tracking.
Storage
Select Storage, and Allow. This allows the app to save information to your device.
Turning Off Wi-Fi
Once the device is fully set up, crew leaders and members should turn off Wi-Fi when using Crew Mobile and use cellular service. Using cellular service can eliminate problems when on the edge of a signal.
To turn off Wi-Fi, swipe from the top of the screen to display the Control Panel, and make sure that the Wi-Fi icon is off (white or light gray – not blue).
In the example below, Mobile data is selected, which tells the device to use cellular service.
You then can work with your crew leaders or crew members to approve their devices now their settings are updated.
Set Up For Apple Devices
Download and Install Crew Mobile
To use Crew Mobile on mobile devices, it must be downloaded from the App Store for Apple devices. Search in the App Store for Aspire Crew Mobile and download.
Apple devices will prompt users to provide access to camera, location and storage for Crew Mobile to function properly. You can verify what is enabled and make any changes after downloading the app.
Enable Location Services
For Crew Mobile to recognize a crew member’s location when they clock in or out, or record time on a job, location services must be enabled on the device and then, on the app.
For iPhones and iPads, location services are enabled from the device Settings screen.
Navigate to Settings ➡️ Privacy & Security ➡️ Location Services ➡️ Turn on the radio button to enable location services.
Then, set the location settings for the app in the same screen.
Location
Scroll down and select Aspire Crew Mobile from the list of apps on this screen and on the next screen, under Allow Location Access ➡️ select Always. Make sure the Precise Location radio button is also turned on.
Camera and Cellular Data
To finish enabling your device permissions, scroll to Aspire Crew Mobile from the list of apps on the main settings screen.
Make sure the radio button is turned on for both camera and cellular data.
This confirms that Crew Mobile can use the camera when using the app in the field and cellular data can be used instead of Wi-Fi.
Disable Wi-Fi
Once the device is fully set up, crew leaders and members should turn off Wi-Fi when using Crew Mobile and use cellular service. Using cellular service can eliminate problems when on the edge of a Wi-Fi signal.
To do this:
Swipe down to display the Control Center.
Disable Wi-Fi by pressing the Wi-Fi icon so the color of the icon is grey, and no longer blue. This tells the device to use cellular data and not Wi-Fi.
Device Approval for Crew Mobile Users
Once the device services have been set up correctly, proceed with your team logging in to Crew Mobile. Any user that logs into Crew Mobile, such as a Crew Leader, means that they should be set up as an employee contact with a user profile under Users in Administration.

While coordinating with the system administrator, the crew leader should launch Crew Mobile. To log in to the system for the first time, the crew leader will enter the email address, password, and company code supplied by the system administrator.
They will also enter a name for the device to uniquely identify it among all the other devices in the company. (ex: jamesmobile).
After the crew leader enters their credentials, and presses the Play button, the screen will display This device is still awaiting approval.
The system administrator will need to access Aspire and approve the device on Devices.
Go to Settings and then Administration.
Once in Administration, click User Management ➡️ Devices and locate the crew leader's device.
Check the box under the Active column to prompt confirmation before enabling the device access to Crew Mobile.
After confirming, instruct the crew leader to press the Refresh button in Crew Mobile.
They can now log in on their device and use Crew Mobile.
Reauthorizing a Device
There may be situations in which you may want to reauthorize a device to use the mobile app.
For example, if you want to associate a company owned device with a new crew leader or member. Maybe, someone was rehired and would need to regain access to Crew Mobile on their phone.
