Purpose

Lawn and fertilizer applications are a key service you can provide for your clients. They are used to maintain healthy turf and prevent weeds. From a revenue generating standpoint, they allow you to expand your business by providing consistent services and help retain customers.

Setting up your lawn and fertilizer applications in Aspire is necessary for most landscaping companies.

There are two different ways you can use lawn applications in your Aspire service set ups, which we will outline below so you can make the best decision for your company!

Requirements

✅ In order to set up services you need to have System Admin added to your user role.

✅ You could also have Branch Admin added to your user role with Enhanced Branch Admin Security turned on for your Aspire system in Configuration.

✅You’ve read our service creation article, here.

Option 1: Setting Up Services Separately for Each Application

Benefits

The benefits of this option allows you to have accurate estimated hours per application since they may vary depending on how you’re applying the products and what equipment you’re using.

You’re able to accurately estimate specific materials per application with this option. Also, your Estimated Material costs are more accurate for each application since the products vary per service.

This means that you can charge a different price per application. Also, because each application has a different name, you know exactly which one you’re scheduling!

Drawbacks

The drawbacks of this option are small, but keep in mind that since the services are set up as their individual services, you’re not able to set up a recurring schedule using this method.

You could qualify this type if service set up if you are not worried about following a recurring schedule due to fluctuating weather or mow schedules.

Option 2: Setting Up One Service With Multiple Occurrences

Benefits

The benefits of this option are that it’s easy to set up a recurring schedule when you have one service and multiple occurrences of that service.

It’s recommended to schedule the service’s occurrences as you need them. If you sub out these types of services, and your subcontractor charges the same amount per application, this option could be easier to manage.

Drawbacks

The possible drawbacks to this option is that you would have to charge the same amount per application.

Additionally, your Estimated Material costs would be more of an average per application. You would have less accurate estimated costs per application.

Your estimated budgeted hours would be an average per application also.

Lastly, since all services would have the same name, you’d have to rely on the occurrence number to know which application you’re scheduling instead of the name of the service.
